Vintage mid-century letter opener designed in the form of a stylized dagger, housed in its original decorative tooled leather sheath.

Made from early plastic (likely cellulose acetate), with a rich tortoiseshell tone and smooth polished finish. The sheath is genuine leather, decorated with gold and blue ornamental tooling typical of European desk accessories from the 1940s–1950s.

These were sold as gentleman’s desk pieces and novelty paper knives, combining utility with decorative Old World styling.

A beautiful example of mid-century desk décor.
